Masala BBQ Burgers

7 Mar

If you’re like me, you often get major junk food cravings. You know the usual suspects: McDonald’s, Taco Bell, In-N-Out.  I try to avoid these as much as possible, but that feeling doesn’t quite go away. So one thing I love doing to satiate my appetite is to make something similiar, albiet more gourmet, filling, and fresh, right at home. Doesn’t that sound appetizing?!

B gobbled these sliders up, which is a huge testament to how delicious they were. I topped each burger with sliced cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and a little dallop of BBQ sauce.

I hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

  • 1/4 of green chilli pepper, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 1/2 tsp BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 3/4 cup toasted bread crumbs (I followed this recipe, but added a pinch salt & pepper and drizzle of olive oil prior to toasting)
  • 1/4 tsp tumeric powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp diced green onion
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • hamburger buns

In a large bowl, hand-mix all ingredients together. Divide meat and form 1-inch thick patties (take care not to over-handle meat or else it will toughen). Prepare greased skillet to medium-high heat. Cook burgers, flipping once, until thoroughly cooked (for well-done). Add cheese to patties about 5 minutes before removing from skillet. Spread ketchup on one side of hamburger buns and the other with BBQ sauce. Place patties on buns, and top with onion, tomato, and lettuce.
